"In your big shoes - An exhibition in memory of my father" by Elisabetta Marinello

The author tells the grueling struggle of her father - "a man who crossed the world with the lightness of a butterfly" - against cancer, which forcefully entered the family, upsetting it.

In addition to the story, which rewinds the tape of time, starting from childhood until the inevitable tragic epilogue, the book contains poems, dedicated to him, and photos of an exhibition, ideally organized in his honor, with the paintings he painted during his whole life, proving that death has only won a battle, while art has won the war. Art and love, together, defeat it, giving eternity.

The title of the story, "Tonight there is a full moon", takes up a phrase that, on a regular basis, he noted in every diary, revealing the visceral bond he had established with this element of creation.

The last words of it, however, are linked to one of the poems, "In your big shoes", which also gives the title to the entire work. This highlights a logical thread, a common thread, which crosses and binds every part of the book, which, in the end, represents a journey. A journey, studded with pleasant but also terrible experiences, concerning not only the life of that father, but of every man, of every human being who, with his weaknesses and contradictions, crosses this mysterious world of ours.

"I wanted to write the book, first of all, for a personal need, driven by the selfish need for survival because, while writing, I had to dig, elaborate, undo intricate knots, unravel tangled skeins, with the sole purpose of groped to heal, to heal and heal the deepest of wounds. In addition, I was driven by the need to pay homage, with the extreme respect that I have always given him, to a special man, extremely reserved, intelligent, good and respectful of others. A man who crossed the world with the lightness of a butterfly. But, precisely for this reason, I do not want his life to go unnoticed or like a meteor whose passage, only a few, are granted the honor of admiring. Through words and images, I wanted to fix his life, silent but exemplary, making it eternal, also certain that many people will be able to reflect themselves in these lines and in these images.
